TARIK ONE OF 38 PLAYERS UP FOR NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE YEAR HONORS

Hempstead, NY - Junior forward Salma Tarik (Bellmore, N.Y.) is one of 38 players who are up for the Soccer News Net Women's Soccer College Player of the Year Award.

Tarik became the ninth player in Hofstra history to score 10 goals in a season, while leading Hofstra to a 10-6-3 final regular season record, including 7-2-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association, good for second place. She earned first-team All-CAA honors for her efforts, while raising her career goal totla to 19, including 16 in two seasons at Hofstra and three in her first year at Cal State Northridge, two of which came against teams which reached the College Cup that year (UCLA, Florida State).

Tarik was one of four regional players nominated by Big Apple Soccer. The 38 nominees were compiled from the six websites in the Soccer News Net network (New England, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles), in addition to 12 at-large selections from around the country.
